The Outdoor Toolkit

The Outdoor Toolkit is a sport small collaborative partnership project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

The great advantage of hiking is constituted by its accessibility, which can vary from a gentle walk on a flat wooded path to mountain climbing. Almost everyone can find a hike that offers the right level of personal challenge. However, the project partners identified the stringent common need to educate young hikers regarding how to pack their backpacks appropriately for an enjoyable and safe hiking experience.

The objectives of the project are to create a mobile app that generates checklists of necessary equipment for different types of hikes in swamps, flatlands, hills, and mountainous regions and to encourage young individuals to adopt an active lifestyle by spreading awareness of a mobile app that helps them pack their hiking backpacks.

The Outdoor Toolkit for all smartphones and tablets is the easiest-to-use checklist to help you prepare when hiking. The mobile App for iOS and Android aims to support casual hikers, young people and anyone interested in preparing better when hiking by providing a checklist with the equipment needed to pack for different types of hikes. The app renders a checklist with the necessary equipment for a day or overnight hike in swamps, flatlands, hills, and mountain areas. The checklists are at the core of this mobile app. They are categorised according to terrain (mountains, hills, flat lands, swamps) and duration (day hike, overnight stay). Each checklist will allow for multiple items. The Outdoor Toolkit App offers top-down navigation, first by terrain and then by duration, before displaying the corresponding checklist.
